Luxe is here!

In previous posts, I gushed about these fab pocket city guides which I discovered during one of my trips last year. Disappointed though later to find out that they weren't sold in Manila. But now I'm so stoked and happy to announce that thanks to my good friend Kat who brings them in, the Luxe City Guides are now available in our city!

Since the last time I wrote about it, they've published new guides like Rome, New York, and Dubai, bringing the number of titles up to 22. You can get them for P450 at Fully Booked High St. and Rockwell, Manila Cigars at both international airports, and at The Travel Club in Trinoma.

For the serious traveller, you can order box sets from Kat like this World Grand Tour (pictured at left), which contains 12 guides, or the Asian Grand Tour with 12 guides to Asia's top cities. Luxe also lets you customize your own box sets.

For orders, you can email Kat directly at katripoll_AT_yahoo_DOT_com or call and visit any of these stores below:

I like the way they're written, but P450 is a bit much for a brochure type guide isn't it? It seems much less if you say it's only $10 ... =)

Hooray! :) I was so excited to show these guides to FB...they are so cool that I feel like buying my own Bangkok guide now...I'm such a dork ;)

Have to go back to FB Fort soon for a real babad type FB day...

Thanks for the tip. I love travel guidebooks and usually get the latest published one everytime I travel.

Wysgal, yes it sounds so much better when you say $10 or even $15 Singapore. :)

Jo, don't na, use mine first because they update every 2 years. I couldn't help myself today, bought 3 books at FB. But they're books! How can that not be money well spent right?

Em, you're welcome. :) Hope you like them. They're quite unique.

Hi! I just found your site last week. It's really great! I travel a lot but haven't really put many pictures on my blog. You've given me inspiration to change that:)
Thanks for the tip on the Luxe guides.

Christine, those guides do sound really cool! Okay...you've gotta tell us whether you got a boxed set! :-) I've got travel fever right now myself. I had two groups of out of country guests in August, and I'm itching to jet off somewhere too!

That's so great!! Will now head to FB to get a Bangkok guide!! I'm so excited to go next month!! Hooray!! :)

Any tips on where to get the BEST Thai food and Thai massage? :)

Luxemama, I'm glad to hear I inspired that change. I'll be stalking your blog from now on. :) Thanks for dropping by!

Joey = right on! ;)

You're welcome, Mila! :x

Belinda, haha no, as tempted as I am to get a boxed set just for pleasurable reading and armchair travel, it wouldn't be practical because they update every 6 months (jo, sorry not once every 2 yrs as I previously mentioned) and I couldn't afford to travel that mcuh in so short a time! :) Ooohh where are you thinking of going? I'm so glad, you deserve a vacation Belinda!

Hi Di! Your best Thai food experiences will be on the street, for sure. :) But off the top of my head, Somboom is a MUST but make sure you go to the right one. I posted the exact address in my blog. And then a food court at one of the big malls is also quite the experience. Gosh, there's tons of places, Luxe will be of great help!

I love Luxe too, but they haven't done any Malaysian cities yet...have they? ;)

Christine...I know what you mean about the time and liquid assets to alot to constant travel! It would be nice though, huh?! I would worry myself sick about how the horses were doing if I were gone too much though. I always adore London, of course, but you know, I'd love to go to Bali or Thailand...and after reading your blog and Joey's, the Philippines in another destination that is very intriguing to me...its such a beautiful part of the world. :-)

Thanks for the heads-up. With so many travel guides out there, it helps to get an opinion from someone you trust.

No Bee, not yet. But I'm sure it's only a matter of time considering Malaysia is a top Asian destination, especially KL. :)

Belinda, not just because I live here, but it is!! I think you'd agree when you visit. And you know you already have two friends who'd love to take you around. :)

Susan, you're welcome. :) You're right, there are so many guides out there it gets confusing.

When will we have Luxe Manila?

Christina said...

Dag, Sidney beat me to asking that. Yeah, where's LUXE MANILA??? Come on now Luxe, massages at The Spa, brunch at M Café... the world wants to know.

Ditto for Kuala Lumpur. :-)

christine said...

Sidney/Christina, I've asked them the same (it's on my previous post about Luxe) and their answer is as follows:

"...While we are very keen to produce a guide to Manila, there is, unfortunately, no room in our publishing schedule in the immediate future to do so..."
"...If you are a resident of Manila and would be interested in possibly contributing to a future guide, please let me know, and I'll keep your details on file..."

So there will be someday down the road for sure, it's just a matter of time. :)

Christine...I've settled on Ireland, for the moment, and I've managed to get my mother and two friends on board, so Ireland in the spring. But speaking of the Philippines, what time of the year is the best to visit? I'm sure there is no undesirable time to visit, with all of that natural beauty. :-) As you can tell, I'm a huge fan of natural scenic beauty!

I want the Luxe Rome! 'Hope they have Luxe Florence, too. Thanks for the helpful tip, Nena! :-)

Okay, Christine...I promise to stop stalking this post! I tagged you for a "7 Random Things" meme, and I hope you haven't already done it. Being newish to blogging, I know lots of you gals have done many of these memes. :-)

Hi Nena,

We read about these guide books in a travel magazine.

We were shocked to see them at Fully Booked but at P450 we had to think about it...

We bought two. :)

Books no matter how small are always a good investment.

cool.. my boss buys another guide for posh travels hmm something i cant afford hehehe.....

Belinda, Hi! Sorry I've been away. Thank you for the tag, I'll get to it as soon as I can. :) As for Ireland, what a dream place. I regret not going for a visit while I lived in London. I'm glad you already have a group pulled together for the Spring. fun! :)

In my opinion the best time to visit the Philippines would be anytime between October-February. Any other time would just be too hot or too rainy. Oct-Feb is comfortable and pleasant. :)

Bearbricklover, you're welcome! :)I'm sure it's only a matter of time they come up with Luxe Florence. It's actually strange they don't already have it.

Books no matter how small are always a good investment. So so true. So which guides did you get, and where are you off to, Franco? :)

Sha, I can't afford posh travels myself haha. So on the guides, I quickly skim down to the more reasonably-priced recommendations. :)
