Windows to Bohol

Windows to Bohol

After all this time, I finally got my butt to Bohol! I didn't want to wait any longer so I made reservations months ago for the Feb. 25 long weekend. I didn't even bother to wait for any of my travel buddies to book along with me. Most of my friends had already been there and I figured I'll go alone if I have to, so I was psyching myself up for that. I was surprised to find out though that a 'new old friend' had never been to Bohol either so I asked her to join me. Needless to say I was over the moon that she said yes!

You wouldn't have guessed that we were travelling together for the first time. We seemed to be on the same page the entire trip. From the onset when we both agreed to make this more of a historical/heritage trip rather than a surf-and-sea one (I'll be indulging my inner beach bum in Sept when I go back for a dear friend's wedding), and all throughout the weekend, it was just easy and we had a super great time.

For the benefit of my non-Filipino friends, Bohol is one of bigger islands (the 10th largest actually) in the Philippines' archipelago of over 7,100 islands. It's located in the Central Visayas region, just a stone's throw away from Cebu, and a quick boat ride from Dumaguete. Its claims to fame are the Chocolate Hills and the tarsier, both of which I'll post about in more detail later.

So I hope you stick around and let me share with you my Bohol experiences. :)

I'm sure Belle will be happy to read your posts. She told me you were a great travel partner, too. :-)

You're lucky to be returning to Bohol so soon! I think the soonest I can return is next year, and I SO want to experience the marine life there. Bohol is known as one of the best dive spots in the country, after all. Although we stayed at the beach, we didn't get to go diving or whale & dolphin-watching, since it was off-season. Next time...

Hi Jo! What's your new icon? Looks cute! :)

Thanks dhanggit! :)

Hi Katrina! I just read all Belle's posts in Travebuddy, she's so funny. :) Yeah, I can't wait to go back and relax at the beach this time. My friends who are getting married will also be organizing different acitivities, tours, etc for the wedding party to choose from. I'm sure I'll be hopping aboard some of those. :)

It's a grater that K got me in Paris! She is Nana an Italian princess that grates cheese with her "metal dress" :) I love her! Plus she's got a bun like me :)

Thanks Didi! I was just like you. Yearning to go for so long. Always hearing about Bohol, reading about it. Finally! Hope you get to go this year too. :)

Hi Bee! Wow, Bohol came out on T+L? How cool! I hope I do it justice. :)

Thanks estan! :) It's such an interesting place really, if you can pull yourself away from the beach, there is so much beauty and history in the island.

Hi Dyanie! Ya bitin for a few days talaga. That's why I'm happy I'm going back within the year. :) And I knew that while I was there the last time so I didn't try to see everything in one go. I hope you get to go back and appreciate it more too!

Look forward to see your pictures from Bohol. I was there just after Holy Week.

I love Bohol but I found it a tad too touristic... too postcard perfect... if you get what I mean.

christine said...

Yes, I think I know what you mean, Sidney. Was it your first time and did you stay at Nuts and Huts like you recommended? Will you be posting a series on Bohol soon? :)
