WS #31: Cocktails on the beach

Cocktails on the beach

This is a photo of our cocktail spread last Saturday, during a long weekend at the beach with some of my best friends and their adorable kids. We munched on all this (salami, aged gruyere and manchego cheeses, green mangos freshly picked from the tree in the garden, olives, pineapples, chips n dip, shrimp a la king on crackers, smoked tanigue fish will dill sauce, white bean dip, bruschetta, sangria, beer and rum-pineapple drinks) as the kids dug holes in the sand, played ball, ran around the bonfire, played with the starfish and picked seashells. This was just one of the many enjoyable moments (and feasts!) we shared together during those four wonderful days at the beach. The only thing more I could have wished for was a longer weekend! :)

Awesome spread. I hear it's deathly hot in Manila these days, so good thing you guys got to go away to the beach for the weekend. =)

Hi Santos! The food all weekend was fantastic, thanks to friends who cook so well. :) Great food and great company, we really need more long weekends!

Hi Wysgal! It's getting deathly hot, you're right! Last weekend was nice though, very breezy and not too humid. But I know May is gonna be unbearable! Hope there are more beach trips to look forward to. :) Love your new profile pic!

Hi Dyanie! I can't take much vacation either, which is why we make the most of the weekends, especially that long weekend. Don't work too hard, you deserve some time off. :)

I'm sooo jealous. Beach, food, drinks, friends...and the green almost white mangoes make my mouth water!

"that sounds like the perfect weekend!" you said it, Katrina! One of those you wished would never end. Or at least not for another week. Sigh...

Thanks Matt! Thanks for dropping by and showing me your site, I'll check it out for sure. I love finding new travel blogs especially those with pictures! :)

The mangoes were great. My friend made some mango burro with a whole bunch that we had with his ultra-spicy kicked-up adobo (that's what I like to call his version). :)

Now, that sounds like a great weekend... how was the cheese? ;-)

The food looks fabulous. Great shot. I'm sorry I'm so late visiting. I appreciated you visiting mine and I get confused sometimes about who I've visited yet which is why I'm so late.

Wow... I wish I could do the same!! :)

Sidney, the cheese was superb! I had bought so much because we munched on it in the car on our way there too. The smoked aged gruyere was my favorite - it was so good, someone even said it was like white chocolate. haha, not quite sweet as that. :)

Hi Carver! No need to apologize, you're so much better than I am at making the rounds. I suck at that. I have so many favorite blogs that I haven't been able to visit in so long because I don't like to just drop by, I like lingering and I need more time to do that. But thanks for dropping by! :)

Hi Didi, you can! Even just in your backyard. Haha you know what my cousins would do when we were young? Half-fill the bathtub, get in in their swimsuits with beers in their hand, and suntan oil under their noses. It ALMOST made them feel like they were at the beach haha.
