Weekend Snapshot #8: Lanzones

WS1

Lanzones

My first entry for Weekend Snapshot is a photo of lanzones taken Sunday at my aunt's fruit farm in Laguna where we spent the long weekend.

The lanzones is a fruit native to Southeast Asia, particularly in the Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia (where it is known as 'doku'). The flesh underneath the thin skin is soft and translucent and surrounds a very bitter seed which you would want to avoid biting into. But the fruit, when ripe is luscious and sweet! Absolutely one of my favorite fruits in the world. The most sought-after variety of lanzones is that from Camiguin where harvest season is celebrated during the Lanzones Festival held annually in October.

See the other entries for this week's Weekend Snapshot here. And if you'd like to learn more about WS and hopefully join the fun, click here. :)

Everybody loves weekend, it is the time for leisure, recreation and other religious activities. And when everyone is having a grand time, you want to capture it and share it with others. That’s why Weekend Snapshot is here for you.

As the saying goes a picture is worth a thousand words, let me invite you to participate every MONDAY in my photo meme to get interaction and connected with one another with our Weekend Snapshot. No theme needed your pictures explain it all.

Hi Veron! Like you, I missed them while I was living abroad. I missed so many of my favorite tropical fruits (I'm such a fruit fiend), but I consoled myself with all the wonderful berries that were abundant in the markets there! :)

Dhanggit, the WS is a great way for me to practice photography and meet other people who love to take pictures as much as I do. :) You should join us!

I must say that I am truly impressed by your travelogue. No, I am not jesting so that I can litter my URL in your comments, but I really mean it. This is awesome. I have not read another travel blog like it. Now, personally, I just approach eating as a way to fill myself up and get nutrition and I usually just fill myself up with the cheapest garbage that I can find while on the Road, but I truly appreciate your approach towards eating. I think you just influenced me make a nice meal for myself tonight. Thanks. Haha. To show my appreciation I just linked you from my site.

Great work.

Nice shot!! I was supposed to bring home some Bangkok Lansones - but was warned by my friend that the customs here in Manila won't let them see the light. Sayang!

Ws, I'm happy I found your site. I know I'll enjoy ws. Thank you! :)

Hi Sha! I hope you're taking care of yourself in the bad weather. Stay safe!

Thanks Katrina! :)

Doc, haha yes they do that and make your fingers super sticky. So it's always nice to have it while by the pool or at the beach where you can wash it all off when you go for a dip. :)
